6.2. Videos containing copyrighted music, footage or other third-party material may be disqualified unless the entrant can provide evidence that the material has been properly licensed.

6.3. DCC may disqualify any entry that does not meet these requirements or that, in DCC’s reasonable opinion, could damage the reputation of DCC, a partner property or Southern African tourism.

7. People Appearing in an Entry

8.3. This permission does not prevent the entrant from using or licensing the photograph or video elsewhere.

8.4. DCC will, where reasonably practical, credit the entrant when publishing the content.

8.5. DCC is not obliged to publish every entry and may remove previously published content when reasonably necessary.

8.6. Apart from the stated competition prize, entrants will not receive payment or royalties for DCC’s permitted use of their entries.

The story or emotion behind the entry;
Its relevance to the competition theme; and
How effectively it celebrates Southern Africa as a travel destination.

9.3. The judges may select a shortlist before choosing the winner.

9.4. The judges’ decision will be final, subject to applicable law. No correspondence regarding individual scores or the judging outcome will be entered into.

10. Winner Announcement and Verification

10.1. The winner is expected to be announced on the 1st of every month through the DCC website.

Proof of identity and age;
Proof that the winning content is original;
The original, high-resolution photograph or video file;
Any required consent or release forms; and
Any other information reasonably required to confirm eligibility.

10.4. If the selected winner:

Cannot be contacted within 8 business days;
Does not provide the requested verification;
Is found to be ineligible;
Has breached these Terms and Conditions; or
Is unable or unwilling to accept the prize,

DCC may disqualify that entrant and select the next-highest-rated eligible entry.

11. The Prize

11.1. The prize is:

A Weekend Getaway

11.2. Where the prize includes accommodation, it will be provided only by the specific participating DCC partner property identified in the competition announcement. It does not entitle the winner to select freely from every property listed by DCC Hotel Group.

11.3. The prize:

Is subject to availability;
Must be redeemed within 12 months of receiving it;
May be subject to blackout dates, minimum-stay requirements and the participating property’s booking conditions;
Cannot be exchanged for cash;
Cannot be sold or transferred without written approval from DCC;
If the winner is permitted to transfer the weekend getaway to another person, the winner remains responsible for the booking. Any damage to the property, additional charges, unpaid expenses or other costs incurred by the person redeeming the prize or by any accompanying guest will be charged to and remain payable by the winner. The participating property may also require the arriving guests to provide identification and a security deposit or payment-card pre-authorisation at check-in if applicable;
Cannot be used together with another special offer unless expressly permitted; and
Must be booked through the method specified in the winner’s notification.

11.4. Unless expressly included in the published prize description, the prize does not include:

Flights or other transport;
Visas, passports or travel documents;
Travel insurance;
Park, conservation or entrance fees;
Meals and beverages;
Safari activities or excursions;
Personal expenses; or
Any other incidental costs.

11.5. The winner and any accompanying guests are responsible for ensuring that they are medically and legally able to travel and that they possess the necessary travel documents and insurance.

11.6. If the advertised prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond DCC’s reasonable control, DCC may offer a reasonable alternative prize of similar value, subject to applicable law.

12. Personal Information

12.1. DCC will use entrants’ personal information to administer the competition, verify entries, communicate with participants and announce the winner.

12.2. The winner’s name, country or town, winning entry and entry description may be published for competition and publicity purposes.

12.3. Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation.

12.4. Entering the competition does not automatically subscribe an entrant to unrelated marketing communications. Any marketing consent must be obtained separately.

13. Disqualification

13.1. DCC may disqualify an entrant who:

Submits false or misleading information;
Submits stolen, copied or artificially misrepresented content;
Uses automated, fraudulent or improper methods to enter;
Attempts to influence the judges;
Fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions; or
Engages in conduct that could reasonably bring the competition, DCC or a participating property into disrepute.

13.2. DCC may request reasonable evidence to verify the authenticity of any entry.

13.3. The use of artificial intelligence to generate the principal photograph or video is not permitted. Normal adjustments such as cropping, colour correction and exposure correction are allowed, provided they do not materially misrepresent the scene.

14. Liability

14.1. Entrants participate voluntarily and at their own risk.

14.2. To the extent permitted by law, DCC and participating prize partners will not be liable for:

Lost, delayed, corrupted or unsuccessful entries;
Technical failures affecting submission or communication;
Losses arising from inaccurate information supplied by an entrant;
Travel expenses or other costs not expressly included in the prize; or
Events outside their reasonable control.

14.3. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any right or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.

15. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation

15.1. DCC may reasonably amend, suspend, postpone or cancel the competition where fraud, technical failure, legal requirements or circumstances beyond its control make this necessary.

15.2. Any material change will be communicated through the channels used to advertise the competition.

15.3. Changes will not unfairly remove rights already acquired by an entrant or winner, except where required by law or circumstances genuinely beyond DCC’s control.

16. General

16.1. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

16.2. A failure by DCC to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

16.3. These Terms and Conditions constitute the rules governing the competition. The promotional advertisement and complete prize description should be read together with them.

17. Governing Law

17.1. The competition and these Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

17.2. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate South African courts or consumer-protection authorities.
