SocialDesk Privacy Notice
How DCC SocialDesk handles connected social accounts and local dashboard data.
DCC SocialDesk is a Windows app used by DCC Hotel Group staff to view selected Instagram and Facebook business accounts and the Your Next African Safari YouTube channel. This notice explains how the app uses connected account data.
Information the app uses
SocialDesk retrieves available account names, profile images, follower or subscriber counts, recent posts and thumbnails, and analytics such as reach, views and engagement. For Google connections, it requests read-only YouTube and YouTube Analytics access. It uses this information to show the selected channel in the dashboard and monthly PDF report. SocialDesk does not use Google account data for advertising, sell it, or send it to an AI service.
Local storage and account access
Dashboard records and image caches are stored on the staff member's Windows computer under %LOCALAPPDATA%\SocialDesk. Meta and Google connection tokens and the Google OAuth client secret are protected for that Windows user with Windows Data Protection API. The in-app browser keeps a separate local profile for each social account; Microsoft Edge WebView2 manages its sign-ins, saved email addresses, passwords and cookies. SocialDesk does not collect those website passwords in its own dashboard file.
The create-post workspace holds a selected local media path and post text while it is open. Users complete uploads on the platform's own website inside the app. If a user copies text or a path from the workspace, it stays on the Windows clipboard until replaced.
Sharing, retention and choices
SocialDesk sends authorization tokens to Meta or Google to retrieve requested account information. The in-app browser sends sign-in or publishing information directly to the chosen social platform. SocialDesk does not send dashboard data to a DCC server or its own analytics service. Local dashboard data and browser profiles remain on the computer until removed. Removing an account in the dashboard removes its dashboard records but does not automatically erase its browser profile or saved connection token. Staff can revoke connected app access in their Meta or Google account settings and remove local SocialDesk data from the computer when it is no longer needed.
