L’Ermitage Quagga Lodge is a luxurious retreat located on the banks of the Berg River, just outside the charming town of Velddrif, on South Africa’s stunning West Coast. The region is renowned for its breathtaking spring flower season, which peaks from August to September, offering vibrant wildflower fields right on its doorstep.
Velddrif is surrounded by popular West Coast towns like Langebaan, Port Owen, and Paternoster, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. L’Ermitage Quagga Lodge offers luxury self-catering accommodations in five modern chalets, each featuring two bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, spacious lounge and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens, and inside and outside BBQ facilities. With solar power, no load-shedding, and off-grid sustainability, the lodge offers an eco-friendly and comfortable escape, complete with complimentary Wi-Fi, DSTV, and ceiling fans.
Guests at L’Ermitage Quagga Lodge will experience both luxury and nature, with opportunities to encounter rare and unique wildlife. Thanks to the lodge’s efforts to bring back the Quagga, once thought to be extinct, approximately 40 Quaggas now call the lodge home. The Quagga is just one of many species that guests can spot on daily game drives through the pristine wilderness. Other rare animals, including the Blonde Wildebeest, Blonde Gemsbok, Sable, Springbok, Buffalo, and a variety of birds, also thrive in this extraordinary environment.

From the moment you step in you are welcomed by a stunning scent, followed by the beauty of a modern, clean and well laid out chalet and then you see the breathtaking views! If that's not enough the hosts are super friendly, helpful and such a pleasure to chat with. We met Johan on the game drive which was extremely informative and interesting. You definitely get to see animals and you can feel the passion Johann has for these animals. He enlightened us with his experiences on the farm which taught us a lot about the animals and what happens behind the scenes.
Linda kept us updated via WhatsApp even before we arrived. She welcomed us with a smile and ensured a painless check in process. Your unit is equipped with the best appliances, amenities with convenience of large bedrooms and bathrooms. Beds were comfy!
